Nitrogen and Phosphorus Availability in Biochar-Amended Soils.Soil Science · May 3, 2011
This article explores how biochar derived from corn cobs influences soil nitrogen and phosphorus levels, revealing that while it boosts ammonium and adjusts phosphorus availability, additional nitrogen may be needed to optimize crop yields.

Production of plasma membrane vesicles with chloride salts and their utility as a cell membrane mimetic for biophysical characterization of membrane protein interactions. Anal Chem · Oct 16, 2012
This article introduces a novel, artifact-free method to generate plasma membrane vesicles from CHO cells using a hypertonic buffer without formaldehyde or DTT. The approach is validated through size distribution analysis and its effectiveness in studying membrane protein interactions is demonstrated.

Phosphorus Adsorption and Desorption Potential of Stream Sediments and Field Soils in Agricultural Watersheds.Journal of Environmental Quality. 2011. Vol.40:144-152. · Jan 1, 2011
This study examines phosphorus release from stream sediments and soils in agricultural watersheds. It finds that while soils—especially those from manure-amended fields—are significant phosphorus sources, stream sediments contribute only minimally to water phosphorus loads.

Hydrothermal Conversion of Corn Cobs and Crude GlycerolBiological Engineering · Feb 1, 2010
This study explores bio-oil production from corn cobs via hydrothermal conversion. Optimal conditions yield 23.9% bio-oil, and adding crude glycerol boosts the yield to 36.3% while enhancing oil quality and gas composition.

Ahorro de aguas y materia prima en los procesos de pelambre y curtido del cuero mediante precipitación y recirculación de aguas. Revista DYNA · Jan 1, 2010
This study focused on reducing water and raw material use in leather tanning processes through chromium precipitation and water recirculation during the liming and tanning stages. By treating and reusing wastewater, the process achieved over 99% chromium removal and allowed direct recirculation of liming water up to three times without affecting leather quality.

Sources of phosphorus loading in Kansas streams. Master thesis
My thesis examined phosphorus (P) pollution in two agricultural watersheds in Kansas with different levels of animal farming: Upper West Emma Creek (UWEC) and Red Rock Creek (RRC). I analyzed P dynamics in stream sediments and upland soils to assess their contribution to water quality degradation. Results showed that stream banks, especially in UWEC, were major in-stream P sources due to erosion, while upland soils—particularly manure-amended fields—were key contributors in R
